Are Care Costs changing?

The independent Dilnot report, which is due to be published later, is to set out suggestions that payment of care be capped so that elderly people do not risk losing all their assets. The report is expected to show a capping of £35,000.00 on care costs.

The current system in place is that Local Authority funded help is available only to those persons who have less than £23,250 of capital. Individuals with more than £23,250 have to pay in full for their care costs.

The report is also suggesting that the current level of £23,250 be raised to £100,000.00.
