Clare’s Law to cover all of England and Wales

A scheme which allows the Police to disclose to individuals their partners’ abusive pasts is to be expanded in March to cover all of England and Wales, following a successful pilot in four police force areas. During the pilot of Clare’s Law there were 111 disclosures in the four police areas involved.

The scheme known as ‘Clare’s Law’ was named after Clare Wood, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend George Appleton at her Salford home in February 2009.
