Facebook juror sent to prison

In what was believed to be the first case of its kind in the UK involving the internet, a female juror was sent to prison for contempt of court after she contacted a defendant via Facebook during a drugs case. This caused the multi-million pound trial to collapse.

Even though the juror had no previous convictions she was given an 8 week custodial sentence.
