Kate completes San Francisco Marathon

Congratulations go to Kate Scully who has achieved the impressive feat of completing the San Francisco Marathon, on Sunday 23rd July last.

Kate, a Solicitor based in our Criminal Department at Telford, frequently runs for charity and decided some time ago to set herself the challenge of running her first ever marathon in San Francisco.

Starting at 5.30am, Kate ran the 26.2 mile route through several popular tourist spots including Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park, before returning to the Ferry Building.  Joining her were approximately 27,000 other runners, some of whom were competing in half marathons and 5km races over the city.
The race was not only Kate’s first time competing in a marathon outside of the UK, but her first marathon ever, having previously ran in various half marathons over the past four years.

Kate commented "I'm proud to say I conquered what turned out to be a rather hilly course in just 5 hours and 8 minutes, especially with this being my first marathon.  The route incorporating many of the city's most iconic landmarks was an added bonus.'
