Mediation in Civil Disputes

With the ever increasing costs of taking Court proceedings, mediation is becoming an increasingly popular alternative and this is also encouraged by the Courts where they can impose costs penalties if the parties refuse to contemplate this.

Mediation can take place before or during the course of legal proceedings and proceedings are normally stayed to allow the mediation to take place. Parties are not obliged to accept any offer to settle on terms which are not acceptable to them but a mediator will take time out to see both parties separately and try and resolve differences without the formality of a Court room atmosphere.

We have contacts with mediators both locally and in centres such as Manchester and Birmingham and the costs involved in undertaking mediation are normally very competitive and of course a lot less expensive than running a Court case to its conclusion if matters can be resolved in this way.
