Newport Nocturne

Autumn is now upon us and one of our favourite events of the year, The Newport Nocturne, Britain’s brightest and best cycle race has just taken place. We once again opened our office to our staff, clients, friends and family to enjoy and savour the atmosphere of such an exciting event.

We all joined the 14,000 spectators lining the barriers to watch the event on a warm sunny late summer evening and cheered on the cyclists enthusiastically.

Cycling has been thrust into the media spotlight recently following Great Britain’s many successes in the various cycling events at this year’s London Olympics.

It was brilliant to see such a terrific turnout and our office benefited from its prime location on the corner of Avenue Road, which meant we had a fantastic view of the cyclists as they raced around the corner at some considerable speed as well as front row seats for the band. A great night was had by all and our thanks must be given to all those who contributed their time and effort which enabled this event to take place.

Cyclists seem to be out on our roads in force at the moment and therefore it is important that they are aware of the risks, particularly with the nights starting to draw in, already! Good road safety is imperative with any sport that involves venturing on to our highways but unfortunately no matter how careful you are accidents do still happen.

Over 3,000 cyclists were seriously injured last year on our roads with another 16,000 suffering minor injuries. The majority of these accidents are attributed to “failing to look properly” by either the driver of the motor vehicle or the cyclist themselves.

If you are involved in an accident that caused you to suffer personal injuries and are considering making a claim for compensation then it is important that you get the best advice possible at the outset so as to maximise your claim and minimise any disruption to you therefore enabling you to concentrate on the most important thing, your recovery.

Cycling has well documented health benefits, so make the most of this promised late summer and get out and enjoy yourselves.

Should you require any advice with regard to a personal injury claim then please do not hesitate to contact Jennifer Woods on 01952 810307.
