Domestic Violence

There are many forms of Domestic Violence and it is not just about physical violence.  The definition of Domestic Violence is "any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 years or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality".  This can encompass but is not limited to the following types of abuse:  Psychological, physical, sexual, financial and emotional.

This behaviour can be displayed in many forms such as threats, assaults, humiliation and intimidation through to controlling behaviour of a person.  You do not need evidence of the abuse for an injunction application.

Legal Aid for the majority of family issues has now been withdrawn, Legal Aid remains available for applications of this nature subject to a financial eligibility test.
