There are many forms of Domestic Violence and it is not just about physical violence.
The definition of Domestic Violence is “any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 years or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality”. This can encompass but is not limited to the following types of abuse: psychological, physical, sexual, financial and emotional.
This behaviour can be displayed in many forms such as threats, assaults, humiliation and intimidation through to controlling behaviour of a person. You do not need evidence of the abuse for an injunction application.
If you or someone you know is suffering domestic violence and/or abuse then contact one of our specialist family solicitors who can arrange an urgent appointment to see you to discuss the range of options available which may include the following:
- Non-Molestation Order to protect you and your family
- Occupation Order to regulate the occupancy of the family home
- Transfer tenancy in respect of rented accommodation
- Financial Orders to pay outgoings in respect of the family home
- A letter warning the perpetrator about their behaviour
Legal Aid for the majority of family issues has now been withdrawn, however Legal Aid remains available for applications of this nature subject to a financial eligibility test.
Please contact us to make an appointment with an experienced member of our family team where your options and eligibility for Legal Aid will be discussed.

We both just want to say a massive thank you for acting as our ILA on our recent remortgage. Your help and guidance along with your 'leave it with me' approach was a great comfort to us as we managed our way through a frustrating time with our new lender. Many thanks again
Zoe Smith, Abbey House, Shrewsbury
