There are many forms of Domestic Violence and it is not just about physical violence.
The definition of Domestic Violence is “any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 years or over who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality”. This can encompass but is not limited to the following types of abuse: psychological, physical, sexual, financial and emotional.
This behaviour can be displayed in many forms such as threats, assaults, humiliation and intimidation through to controlling behaviour of a person. You do not need evidence of the abuse for an injunction application.
If you or someone you know is suffering domestic violence and/or abuse then contact one of our specialist family solicitors who can arrange an urgent appointment to see you to discuss the range of options available which may include the following:
- Non-Molestation Order to protect you and your family
- Occupation Order to regulate the occupancy of the family home
- Transfer tenancy in respect of rented accommodation
- Financial Orders to pay outgoings in respect of the family home
- A letter warning the perpetrator about their behaviour
Legal Aid for the majority of family issues has now been withdrawn, however Legal Aid remains available for applications of this nature subject to a financial eligibility test.
Please contact us to make an appointment with an experienced member of our family team where your options and eligibility for Legal Aid will be discussed.

Great solicitors best I've ever had dealings with , they did all the work
My wife and I recently bought a house using Terry Jones as our solicitor. You hear horror stories about how difficult a house purchase can be, but we experienced no problems at all. Our solicitor Tracy dealt with all the problems before we were even aware of them and I could not believe how smoothly the entire process went. Very pleased and would definitely recommend.
I have been in contact twice previously with this solicitors and both times they were excellent couldn’t fault anything, both Ian and Gaynor were extremely professional and answered all my questions.
Professional, helpful on all aspects I needed.
Emma Wing. I would like to thank you and your colleagues for everything you did in order to resolve my Mother’s estate. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you have done far more than is normally expected or required of a solicitor; and that without your kindness, help, understanding and perseverance this matter would still be ongoing. You have my gratitude and admiration for all that you’ve done to help over the many years this has taken to resolve. I am truly grateful for everything that you’ve done to help me and offer a sincere and heartfelt thank you in return.
