The potential pitfalls in representing yourself in family proceedings

Following the cuts to Legal Aid made by the Government in April last year, more and more people are attending at Court to represent themselves. The below article highlights some of the feelings of those involved in the Court process and states that Court proceedings are taking longer to resolve as a result of one or both parties being unrepresented. There is also concern about the emotional effects on the children involved in these cases as they remain in the Court arena for longer periods of time.

Our Family Department is able to help you through the Court process in respect of your children and can discuss ways to fund your case in the absence of Legal Aid. Please telephone our Telford or Shrewsbury Office to arrange a free consultation.
